Timbers is a beautiful Grade II Listed, timber-framed semi-detached property located in the conservation area of Horsted Keynes, Sussex.
Following extensive fire damage, JP Bedfords were appointed to manage the insurance reinstatement works. Due to the building’s listed status and sensitive location, close liaison with the Conservation Officer was required throughout, and the reinstatement needed to use specific materials and adhere to strict design stipulations. Specialist contractors were engaged to repair and restore the original timber beams and other key features.
During the project, the opportunity was taken to convert the roof void into a bedroom suite, a planning application that had previously been refused. JP Bedfords revisited the application and managed the process to achieve a successful outcome, allowing the loft conversion to proceed alongside other improvements, including enhancements to the first-floor bedroom suite and the installation of a new family bathroom. The result is a carefully restored and enhanced home that preserves its original character while offering modern comfort and functionality.
