Party Wall & Neighbourly Matters

A tragic gas explosion in Shaw, near Oldham, destroyed three terraced houses, leaving this property as the only one capable of being reinstated.

JP Bedfords were appointed to manage the full demolition and rebuild. The house had to be taken back to its footings, with all remaining fire- and blast-damaged elements removed before reconstruction could begin.

Given that one of the adjoining properties was not rebuilt, the project required the creation of a new external gable wall to replace the original party wall. This involved extensive co-ordination of party wall matters as well as overcoming legal boundary complexities to ensure the new structure could be formed safely and compliantly.
The remainder of the property was reconstructed to its original layout, enhanced with modern fixtures and finishes.

JP Bedfords managed the entire process, from demolition, design development, specification, and party wall coordination through to contractor oversight and final completion, delivering a technically robust and fully reinstated home.
